The Delhi Sultanate, Vijaynagar Empire and the Mughal Empire

1. Delhi Sultanate: The Delhi Sultanate was established by Invasion of Mohammed Ghori and defeat of Prithviraj Chauhan in Second Battle of Tarain in 1192. It comprises of rule by five dynasties:

  • Slave Dynasty
  • Khilji Dynasty
  • Tughlaq Dynasty
  • Sayyid Dynasty
  • Lodhi Dynasty

2. Vijaynagar Empire: The Vijaynagar empire was established by brother Harihar and Bukka in 1336. Hampi was capital of the empire. The great king Krishnadevraya belonged to this empire. Vijaynagar Period is divided into four distinct dynasties:

  • Sangama Dynasty
  • Saluva Dyansty
  • Tuluva Dynasty
  • Aravidu Dynasty

3. Mughal Empire: The Mughal Empire was established by Babur in 1526 with defeat of Ibrahim Lodhi in First battle of Panipat. The period show development of many art and architecture marvels including Red Fort, Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikhri.
